Perry on Gay Rights

Perry’s Anti-Gay Rights Focus Is Divisive Even to Staff   By Jr.

Rick Perry is most concerned about the economy, but recently he came out and talked about gay rights. He is approaching from this direction to try to get more conservatives on his side after losing some number of conservative supporters when he supported " lower-cost in-state college tuition to some children of illegal immigrant." However, in trying to gain more conservative supporters, he is also gaining much negative attention from the gay and lesbian community.  Perry feels that the gay and lesbian rights in the United States do not stand well or in balance with American and Christian values. The gay and lesbian community are not the only one getting involved with the bad attention for Perry, some religious groups are also standing against Perry.

In going against the gay community, he also attacked Obama's decision when he repealed the "Don't ask, Don't Tell" policy. He made it clear in a campaign ad of his that was publish on Wednesday, that he feels gay and lesbians should not be out there serving the United States, along side all the straight soldiers out there, " it is wrong that gay men and lesbians openly serve in the military". Most of the soldiers out there do not feel what Perry feels;  75% of the soldiers have said that they are fine fighting along side a gay or a lesbian.

Perry may have hi-lighted this issue in preparing for the Iowa caucus. Iowa citizens voted out three Supreme Court justices because they ruled in favor of legalizing same sex marriage.
